Behind the Scenes

 Hi, I'm Joshua J. Galus

My name is Joshua Galus, though I'm commonly known as Woody Galus, Coach Woody, or Coach Galus. I have dedicated the past 11 years to coaching youth sports, with a focus on baseball and softball. My experience spans various levels, including recreational leagues, Little League, travel teams, and middle school sports.

Currently, I serve as a coach for a 13U travel fastpitch softball team and as the Head Coach for middle school softball. My journey in sports began as a player, with 12 years of experience in baseball until an injury curtailed my ability to compete at higher levels. Despite this, I continued to play in adult competitive leagues for several years.

I took a brief hiatus from sports to focus on my family, soon after marrying my wonderful wife, Tiffany, and starting our family, which includes our three incredible children—two daughters and one son.

My return to coaching was inspired by a desire to share my experiences with my eldest daughter when she began participating in sports. Coaching has allowed me to witness the joy and achievement of young athletes, a truly rewarding experience.

Through my coaching tenure, I observed significant disparities between female and male sports in our region. The short seasons and weather constraints limit opportunities for practice and training. In softball, while pitching instruction is plentiful, hitting and fielding instructions are scarce. As a coach, I strive to foster a cohesive team environment, though managing diverse skill levels among players can be challenging. Addressing individual needs can detract from engaging advanced players, a common challenge for team coaches.

To tackle this issue, I founded Progressive Dynamix, LLC, aiming to keep players of all skill levels engaged and passionate about the sport. Coaching, to me, is a privilege. I am committed to sharing my enthusiasm and expertise with anyone eager to learn.

Watching young athletes achieve their goals and exceed their expectations is immensely gratifying. A coach is a mentor, a supporter, and a dedicated lover of the game. This is my identity and my aspiration every day.
